Mernda rail extension workshop

Today Public Transport Victoria (PTV) held a public consultation workshop at Mernda Villages CAC at 1.30pm. The PTV representative, Jaswinder Singh explained the history of the Mernda rail line, the plans for the new station in Mernda and the options for the additional stop between Mernda and South Morang. He said the Mernda station will have a bus interchange, stabling yard and will be fully staffed.

Mr Singh asked for feedback on the two proposed locations between South Morang and Mernda and said that a stop exactly midway between Mernda and South Morang was considered but rejected due to the impact to parklands.

Participants were also asked how they would like the Mernda rail station to be integrated with the proposed Mernda Town Centre. They were also asked what facilities they would like to see at the new station.

Our local MP, Danielle Green was also in attendance to answer questions that were in the minds of Mernda and Doreen residents.
