Mernda Chess Club

The Mernda Chess Club welcomes all skill levels and all ages of players to have a casual game at the Mernda Village Community Activity Centre!

We run every Thursday evening from 7pm to 9pm, and there are no charges or membership fees. All equipment is provided, just come along and play a game!

An initiative of the Mernda and District Residents Association, and generously funded by a Stockland Community Grant.

2019 Mernda Community Fair Wrap-Up

Thankyou to all who attended the 2019 Mernda Community Fair!  We hope you all had a great time there!  This is the 7th Fair, and every time we aim to have a day of fun, low-cost, family-friendly entertainment! We look forward to seeing you all again in 2020!






2018 Mernda Community Fair

MADRA is proud to announce the 6th Annual Mernda Community Fair!

Date: Sunday 25th March 2018
Time: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Location: Mernda Recreation Reserve, Schotters Rd, Mernda

The Mernda Community Fair is a day of fun, low-cost, family-friendly entertainment!  Come along for the rides, food and entertainment, and find out about local community groups, sports groups and businesses!

  • Local community groups
  • Local sports groups
  • Local businesses
  • Food trucks and stalls
  • Pony rides
  • Fair rides
  • Face painting
  • Animal Farm
  • Reptile Show
  • Classic Cars – 49-59 Ford Customline Car Club of Victoria
  • Main stage with performances
  • Market area with a variety of market stalls

We aim to keep all activities either cheap or free, so you won’t have to worry about spending too much.  The Fair is run by volunteers from the local community, with sponsorship from local businesses and support from the City of Whittlesea

Applications for stalls are now closed.  If you represent a community or sports group who has not yet applied, please email us to apply.

Mernda Community Fair 2017

The Mernda Community Fair is a day of fun, low-cost, family-friendly entertainment!  The 5th annual Mernda Community Fair will be held on Sunday 2nd April 2017 from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM.  Our new venue is Buttercross Park, on the corner of Mernda Village Dr and Dalmeny Way.  We’ll be having:

  • Local community groups
  • Local sports groups
  • Local businesses
  • Food trucks and stalls
  • Pony rides
  • Fair rides – Chair-O-Plane, Maze with Lazer Tag, Jumping Castle
  • Face painting
  • Animal Farm
  • Reptile Show
  • Classic Cars – 49-59 Ford Customline Car Club of Victoria
  • Main stage with performances
  • Chinese Lion Dance
  • Market area

All activities are cheap or free, so you won’t need to worry about spending too much!

Mernda Community Fair 2016

The 4th annual Mernda Community Fair  has finished, and the organizing team would like to thank everyone who played a part in bringing the community together on Sunday 6th March!  We are volunteers who run the event in our spare time because we believe that Mernda needs something like this, something which makes Mernda feel like a home rather than just a place to live.
